It was going great, until...

I beat the final boss, or so I thought, and I dropped down that long chasm. The game glitched, and I got stuck underneath the ground, able to wander everywhere you shouldn't be. I thought it was a weird game mechanic, but it appears to be a glitch. So, I refresh it, only to find that I had to start over.

1. Fix this glitch, please.
2. Make the game able to save at those checkpoints, or even, possibly, a suicide option to go back to a previous checkpoint.

Had me rolling!!

My only complaint was, after getting fondled, hitting play again and it going all the way back to the beginning.

Aside from this, this is a flawless game, and it's one of the funniest I've ever played. I'll see you in Hell, friend :)

Frustrating as hell at times.

The game is great, don't get me wrong. The graphic quality is superb, the gameplay is fun, the concept is top notch.. but I have a pretty hefty list of complaints, but with solutions to help them.

1. The controls are absolutely sluggish. It takes far too long to maneuver up and down, and it causes you to have to move to avoid obstacles before they're even on screen, and it makes hitting any enemies an absolute hassle.

2. The lack of control over the graphical quality. My computer operates best if I bring it to med or low quality. This game lacks that option.

3. The lack of ability to revisit tutorials. I had a hard time landing. I would have been able to fix that issue if I had been able to revisit the tutorial.

4. There's a design flaw on level 4. After you come out of the first hangar, the second one is too close, and no matter if I slow down before I hit it, hold up as the level starts, or both, I always hit it. I suggest moving the hangars just a little farther apart.

5. When you respawn, how it nosedives from the top of the screen instead of coming in from the left. That resulted in more game overs than anything else.

6. The defense upgrade did absolutely nothing for me. I died just as easily from bullets and crashing my plane, if not even easier. Make it more noticeable, instead of making it defend against one extra bullet.

7. Wingman is completely useless, also. Replace him with the option to buy more effective controls. That would fix this problem, as well as the first problem I stated.

Deeply flawed, yet addicting.. for a minute or two

It's simple and fairly easy to play if you have a mouse. If you're working with a touch pad, though, you're in for some trouble with the aiming. I learned that the hard way.

My biggest complaints:

1. You put the MEDAL GET in the WORST possible place, right in the middle of the screen, blocking your view. I died twice from it popping up unexpectedly with multiple fast enemies around.

2. You should have a quick guide on what those flying icons mean. If so, I would have been able to avoid that all-too-slow blue laser. Powerful, yes, but slower than a snail swimming through molasses in the arctic tundra in wintertime.

3. The game seemed to slow down greatly as it went on. Whether it was the game, those flying icons or my computer, though, I'm unsure.

It's odd.

It worked just fine on my desktop, but when I tried playing on my laptop, it wouldn't work. Both run Google Chrome and have the same Java and Flash updates and everything.

So, a review from my desktop - It's a great game! It reminds me much of Megaman. Perfect Gameboy Color-esque graphics, wonderful music, and the gameplay is addictive.

Now, to get it to work on all computers :p

Brilliant.

The concept itself is hardly original - running through a level as fast as possible while some large, ominous thing threatens to end you. Outrun it, and win.

However, how this game was made, with the custom character, the many different clothing items and eh gun.. oh, the GUNS. All of it makes this game not only highly original, but incredibly fun and entertaining.

Also, be it on purpose or be it coincidence, I sense the art style of Jhonen Vasquez in quite a few of the character's faces. Massive kudos for that. It looks great!

Joelasticot responds:

Yes, Jhonen Vasquez was a big inspiration to the artist for this game!

Original idea, poor delivery.

I love the idea of a supermarket cashier running through the store, blasting people with pricing lasers, and their attacks being stupid questions. However, it wasn't delivered well. It lacked any luster whatsoever, the sound effects and music were mediocre, and it was honestly just.. rather annoying to play.

I do give you major props on not only the idea, but for the 'fires everytime X is pressed' thing. I hate shmups that make you wait a certain amount of time before firing again.

Take this game back to the ol' drawing board, maybe get a few artistic and musical types to help you upgrade the music and graphics, add a storyline, and you'll definitely have something worth playing. Its good, it just needs to be polished up.. a lot.

XxfireBreatherxX responds:

Thx man I appreciate that. Yeah, I'm going to school for this so I'm trying to teach myself how this all works. All criticism is appreciated.

A great take on a classic!

Granted, I would have liked it better if it had mouse-aiming instead of having to use the arrows, but hey, it was rad nonetheless.

Grammar issues aside...

Fun and addictive, yet easy enough.

I have a few complaints about this game.

While it is fun, and quite hilarious, I had a few major issues.

The first big one was, obviously, how slow it runs. I really hope you can fix the poor optimization.

The second was the wall-jumping mechanics. When it showed up at first, I bounced up the walls effortlessly. Using the same tactics in the level where the sticky walls drop, there was some issue with it, but I passed it nonetheless, again, using the same tactics I did the first time. Now, in level 11 where you have to wall-jump to hit the switch, for whatever reason, it won't let me wall jump at all, whether I use previously successful tactics or try new ones. Nothing worked.

The third and final issue is with that damn AWESOMEITEM hat. It keeps me floating for whatever reason, and now I can't hit switches that require you to stand on them for long periods of time.

There are some bugs to be worked out, but otherwise, it is pretty fun. I love the concept, and the dialogue had me rolling, both with the dialogue itself, and how it was delivered.

Drawing and gaming are things I do a lot
